Divisional Secretariat - Padukka

Hand2stand NGO paid Rs 90000/= worth of school equipment and education support to 30 girls on 26.01.2023.

Directing young people who have dropped out of school and lost their education in Padukka Division to the vocational training course.

In conjunction with the Rural Economic Revitalization Programme, this programme was held at Padukka Divisional Secretariat Auditorium on 23.11.2022 under the chairmanship of Colombo District Secretary Mr. Pradeep Yasaratne.

According to the concept of Mr. Sugath Sisira Kumara, Padukka Divisional Secretary and on his advice and guidance, Padukka Assistant Divisional Secretary Mrs. Madhusha Veerakkodi and Miss W.S. Pradeepa, Assistant Director (Programming), Assistant Director (Planning) K.S.AS Ranatunga.

The selection and coordination of the children for this programme was done by the development officers in charge of the domains and the organization was done by the Padukka Skill Development Officer Mr. Samantha Peiris. Here, new students were introduced to 3 vocational training institutes, registration and courses. 

Representing the institute, Programme Officer Mr. A. K. B. Abeywickrama, Vocational Training Authority (VTA), Training Inspector Mr. K. D. I. Wimalanath, National Apprenticeship and Industrial Training Authority (NITA), Vocational Guidance Officials from Ms. Sagarika Abeysekara, Technical College, Homagama and Ms. MA Kumari, Skill Development Officer, District Secretariat, Colombo participated and the students were successfully selected from the most suitable course.
All field officers contributed to the coordination activities here.

  
The Kala festival held annually with the aim of encouraging and appreciating the artists of the division.

In conjunction with the National Literary Art Festival organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs, the Art Festival of Padukka Division was held splendidly in the auditorium of the Padukka Divisional Secretariat under the chairmanship of Mr. Pradeep Yasaratne, Colombo District Secretary.

Under the direction and supervision of Padukka Regional Secretary Mr. Sugath Sisira Kumara, under the leadership and supervision of Assistant Regional Secretary Ms. Madhusha Weerakkodi, Padukka Cultural Development Officer Mr. Madhushan Wijekulathilaka and Cultural Development Officer (B.P.) Ms. Nadisha Erandi and other officers of the office. The event was organized with the support of Deshbandu, Deshmanya, as a special preacher for this which was jointly held with regional cultural authorities and registered art institutions, cultural center.Recipient of the Raigamshiromani Honorary Award, in performing arts, actor and singer who played the role of Naribena in the Bakmaha Akunu stage play and Naribena play by Mr. Dayahya Gunawardana, folk singer.DS Yohan Bihendra Ranasinghe's participation was a wonderful experience.

Also, the children of the art institutes were decorated with many colorful designs by the officials of the office, where certificates were awarded in recognition of the artistic skills of the children of the division.
